I believe in a lame sort of attack on my atheist beliefs someone signed me up to receive a bunch of neo-conservative newsletters from such lovely people as the AFA (American Family Association) and Ann Coulter. I don’t know if they thought that by reading this stuff it would make me change my ways or if they just wanted to punish me but all they did was throw fuel on the fire. These emails are comedy gold. There are also some emails that go directly opposite to my deep held personal beliefs.
The AFA recently emailed me with a link to clips from a Family Guys episode that they described as “a perverted and sickening program“. Of course the words perverted and sickening grabbed my attention and within a few seconds I found myself chuckling at the clips from the episode they described as “so explicit that I can’t even begin to describe it here.” I then found myself clicking on the link urging me to file a complaint with the FCC. Instead of sending their pre-filled rantings about how the show should be canceled I wrote a nice little piece about how Family Guy is a great show and that the people complaining about it to the FCC probably never actually saw the episodes and are only complaining based on clips on the interwebs which were probably pirated. I also explained about my belief that the government should never censor anything on TV. If these people don’t like it they don’t have to watch it. The government can barely run itself so what gives it the right to tell me what I can and cannot watch.
Here is the form to send to the FCC. Feel free to tell them your opinions on this whole situation.
